Bear Day

On October 6th we will be going to the Warwickshire and Solihull Bear Day at Stoneleigh Park.


There are 6 programme zones: creative, global, community, outdoor & adventure, beliefs and fitness.  Taking part in at least one activity from each zone will earn you a Bear Day badge.


Weather permitting our Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, is planning to visit the event.  He will set the time for the Fire Lighting Challenge.  Will you be able to beat his time?





Bear’s Fire Lighting Challenge
Build a fire from the supplied quantity of natural materials and light it using one match. We will measure time taken to burn through a length of string 40cm above the ground.
Rules:
1. Only open to Scout section members
2. Only supplied materials will be used and 1 match
3. The fire must be in the fireplace provided.
4. The fire must be free-standing; no part of it may be held / kept in place by any person.

We have produced poster / flyer for scouts that has been distributed through Meriden School and other outlets.

If you have friends who you think might enjoy scouts then feel free to print this out and give them a copy.

Unless specifically stated we meet at 7pm on a Thursday at the scout hut in Meriden.

Just getting started

A big welcome to the new 1st Meriden Scouts blog.  Over the next few weeks we hope to get our plans together for when Scouts starts again in the autumn term and, when we can, we will start to use this blog to keep you informed and provide links to other sources of information which might also be useful.
